5 Amazing Things That We’re Totally Glad Can Talk to Us Now

Isn’t technology great? At this rate, everything we create in ten years will be able to immediately provide us with feedback in some way, if not audibly. Our gadgets and gizmos giving us clear and concise updates out loud, rather than via some sort of text interface or gauge, is simply the best. Better than all the rest, in fact. It’s not like we’ve been ignoring things from the past, either.

As a perfect example of what we’re talking about, here’s a short video about a brilliant GE train that can talk in order to relay important information about its cargo, destination, and current location:

That train is definitely pretty spiffy, and of course the car is as well, but mostly the train since it’s, y’know, real. That’s not all, though. There are a number of other amazing things that have been equipped with the ability to talk in some capacity.

1. No. 1 | GPS Devices

   Looking back and forth from the screen of a GPS device to the road is a rough task. Thank goodness the majority of them can chatter! It's pretty rare to come across a GPS device these days that doesn't ping and let you know when it's time to turn or keep going straight.

2. No. 2 | Siri

   How could we compile a list like this without including Siri? The Apple assistant has become a posted child of sorts for interacting with phones. Siri doesn't just talk to people, unlike the rest of these devices. Siri responds to questions asked of it. That's not to say Siri isn't a bit creepy, but such is life in the digital age.

3. No. 3 | Teddy Ruxpin

   Teddy Ruxpin has been around for some time now, but he still represents an excellent example of something old embracing technology. A teddy bear is just a teddy bear, but one that talks to you can be a friend.

4. No. 4 | Treadmills

   Treadmills, and other workout equipment, have progressively grown more technological. Not only have the mechanics improved, but some treadmills even chime in with a "workout completed" once you've hit a certain point. We here at Geekosystem are certainly happy to be told when to stop running, in general. That stuff can be rough.
